Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Legions of readers entranced by Twilight are hungry for more and they won't be disappointed. In New Moon, Stephenie Meyer delivers another irresistible combination of romance and suspense with a supernatural twist. The "star-crossed" lovers theme continues as Bella and Edward find themselves facing new obstacles, including a devastating separation, the mysterious appearance of dangerous wolves roaming the forest in Forks, a terrifying threat of revenge from a female vampire and a deliciously sinister encounter with Italy's reigning royal family of vampires, the Volturi. Passionate, riveting, and full of surprising twists and turns, this vampire love saga is well on its way to literary immortality.

5 out of 5 stars GREAT!   January 7, 2009
I became a twilight series fan after seeing the movie. I have to say, I'm impressed at the development of this series. Little side conversations that seem like they were just added "fluff" become important as the series goes on! Bring your tissues for this one...

5 out of 5 stars Great Book   January 7, 2009
I loved this book, it begins where Twilight leaves off and sends you into a whole new area. I couldn't put it down!

3 out of 5 stars Not my favorite in the series   January 7, 2009
I have love/hate relationship with the Twilight series. On the one hand, Stephanie Meyer writes very compelling characters on the other, there are times when the writing is sloppy and even the characters struggle to keep a reader interested. I think New Moon is the example of this and certainly the weakest of the series.

Strengths are definitely Jacob, he's a strong character and lovable. All of the characters introduced in New Moon are as compelling and endearing as those introduced in Twilight.

The biggest weakness of the book would have to be Bella, she is unrecognizable for most of the book and I had to continually try to justify her mystifying transformation instead of buying into it. Another weakness I found really applies to the entire series, there are quite a few grammatical mistakes and areas that could have undergone some easy revising that should have been caught by her editors.

All in all, I enjoyed reading it, though I have a personal vendetta against her editors. I've already re-read it and will probably read it again.

1 out of 5 stars I wanted to vomit   January 7, 2009
I thought the first book was a little bit too much on the sappy side, but this book made me want to hurl. Throughout most of the book I was wishing that Bella would just die so that this book would end. There was so much whinning and crying from chapter 3 till the last 2 chapters of the book. Yeah, maybe the plot was building up to something (that ended up being so close to ridiculous once you found out what it was), but its method of relaying the story was so annoying that it made me wish I returned the book when I had the chance. Normally a book this long would have only taken 3-4 days to read but I drug out so long because I dreaded opening the book to read it.

Don't get me wrong. I finished the book and moved on to the rest of the series simply because there was, well, a series. I tried to hard to give it 2 stars, but my final thoughts were that this was the worst out of the 4 books and probably the worst book that I had read in a VERY long time. The book was simply 607 pages too long...

4 out of 5 stars Great sequel   January 7, 2009
Very good follow up to "Twilight". Heartbreak, rejuvenation, suspense, resolution, all in one package. And of course, a little teaser for the next book. Awesome!
