Product Description
Mackenzie Allen Philips' youngest daughter, Missy, has been abducted during a family vacation and evidence that she may have been brutally murdered is found in an abandoned shack deep in the Oregon wilderness. Four years later in the midst of his Great Sadness, Mack receives a suspicious note, apparently from God, inviting him back to that shack for a weekend. Against his better judgment he arrives at the shack on a wintry afternoon and walks back into his darkest nightmare. What he finds there will change Mack's world forever. In a world where religion seems to grow increasingly irrelevant "The Shack" wrestles with the timeless question, "Where is God in a world so filled with unspeakable pain?" The answers Mack gets will astound you and perhaps transform you as much as it did him. You'll want everyone you know to read this book!

5 out of 5 stars Great Book   January 7, 2009
The Shack by William P. Young is a story of a girl who was abducted, brutally murdered and found in an abandoned shack. Mark the main character in the story finds a note in his mailbox telling him to return to the shack. This is where he meets God manifested in many different forms. I can see the readers of this book are looking for God themselves by their reviews.
I found a new book that helped me find hope in this world of such uncertainty, entitled "The Enlightenment, What God Told Me After One Million Prayers: A Message for Everyone," by John H. Eagan. I just finished it. It's really great and deals with God, the creator, Jesus' teachings, and His Passion. It brought me to tears. I think you will really enjoy The Enlightenment

5 out of 5 stars Changed my life   January 7, 2009
Some people on my church web board were talking about this book, so I went ahead and followed the amazon link and bought it. I buried one of my children almost 11 years ago, so unlike others who were quickly getting through this book, it took me quite some time to read this book. I kept putting it down to go and cry, relive some memories, grieve for awhile, and then force myself to pick up the book again. I also had much in common with the main character in way of his relationship with his father, and could relate to that pain. I found myself crying, literally laughing out loud at some points, bawling like a baby, and healing from over 30 years of pain. My relationship with God growing ever stronger with every turn of the page of this tiny little book. No religion needed, no theology lessons necessary, the story is one of forgiveness and healing and finding your way back. The story will help people heal from the smallest of issues to the very greatest of issues. I bought my step-father a copy and mailed it to him, because of this book - a man I never thought I would speak to again - this book helped me to forgive him completely. This book helped to me find peace over the loss of my son, and finally stop grieving. My mother got a copy, my brothers got a copy, my sister got a copy as a gift for while she sat in the airport to come visit me. She said that all kinds of strangers kept walking up to her to tell her that they read this book and it was fantastic and changed their lives! I know it changed mine, forever. It is worth the read, religion or no religion at all, it is a helper - and after all at the end of the day, that is what Jesus was to all, a self sacrificing Helper. I am simply grateful for the book, for it helped me to heal.

5 out of 5 stars One of the best books ever   January 7, 2009
This book is simply amazing. The author does such a great job explaining God's love for us.

The beginning was very hard for me to make it though, but well worth it. I'm not sure if I spent more time praying, reading, or crying while going through this book, but I am so glad that God is a loving God.

If you havn't read this book, read it. If you have, read it again. I recommend it to all.

Because of the tragic death of our son, my faith and expectations of God fell short. "The Shack" brought me face to face with questions and answers between myself and God, showing me a relationship with the Triune God that is truly real. Thank you Wm Paul Young!
